Why do we feel so good when the workout is over?

There's this little thing called an endorphin. It's released from the pituitary gland into the brain during stressful experiences to diminish pain and trigger positive feelings. This microscopic process is yet another reason why we should schedule time for exercise.

Exercise puts stress on the body. Endorphins are later released as a protective measure to help us recover. This leaves us feeling refreshed, relaxed, and invigorated. When we exercise vigorously, we are literally tearing the microfibers of the muscles. The brain releases endorphins in response to this as a natural way of combating pain. Everyday Health reports that "exercise helps to improve mood and combat depression" which is often referred to as a Runner's High.

According to The American Council of Exercise, endorphins are a neurotransmitter that when released help to block pain, and produce pleasure.

Exercise isn't just good for you. It actually helps you feel good. There's plenty of science to back this up. Just google endorphins, or Runner's High, and a ton of research articles and studies will pop up.

This is just another reason for us to get up and get moving, and work up a sweat.

Building a fitness routine is so much more than a dress size. It's about feeling great!
