Autumn Apple Crisp
Foods that have a sweet taste are helpful in maintaining a balanced mind and body during autumn, especially for a person with a high vata dosha. In the coming weeks, I hope to share some easy vata friendly recipes. You don't have to follow the recipes exactly. Please tailor them to fit your individual needs, and just use them to draw inspiration from. As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
This Apple Crisp is pretty easy to make.
Peel about 7-8 apples.
Slice them, and put them into a baking friendly dish that has been rubbed with butter.
(Keeping in mind that natural fats, such as a good quality butter, are healthy for a person with a vata constitution, especially during vata season.)
In a separate bowl, add 1 cup of oats, 1/4 cup of almond flower, a handful of chopped pecans, and mix.
Add a sprinkle of ashwaganda, shatavari, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Add a pinch of salt. Mix this into the oats.
Next, cut up a stick of cold butter, and with your hands, mix it into the oat mixture.
Add this mixture on top of the apples. Drizzle honey on top.
Place into the oven, at 350 for about 30 minutes, or until the oats begin to get crispy.
Serve with a dollop of homemade whip cream.
Enjoy on a chilly evening with a cup of your favorite tea, or warm milk.
