Hibiscus Cooler
Hey There,
The heat this summer has been off the chain! I cannot seem to stay hydrated, although I feel like I am constantly drinking water. When there are bouts of intense heat, and I can't seem to drink enough water to keep up, I begin to get sick and tired of water. I crave some hydration with flavor. If you're like me, you don't want to load up on sugary drinks.
I came up with this recipe. If you are familiar with Ayurveda, and the doshas, then know that this beverage is great for cooling off an over heated pitta digestion. Hibiscus is the foundation of this drink. It has a natural cooling effect on the body. Hibiscus is great for balancing blood pressure, and it has antioxidants, which helps to clean the blood.
In the summer, I make it a point to drink cool hibiscus infusions on a regular basis.
Get some dried hibiscus flowers and let them soak in room temperature water for about 10 to 20 minutes.
While the hibiscus is soaking,
rinse and cut up a peach,
rinse about 4-5 dark cherries,
cut them in half.
Add the peaches and cherries to the hibiscus infusion.
When you're ready to serve yourself a glass, pour about a tablespoon of heavy cream into the glass.
And...Voila!!! Drink up, and be happy!
If you enjoy this recipe, let me know.
Feel free to share it with your friends.
Happy summer,
Sabrina
