Balancing the fire within
Ancient cultures lived with the rhythms of nature. They observed the natural cycles of the world around them, and were able to identify when the same elements of their environment were either in balance within themselves or out of balance within them. They realized that when the elements within the human body become out of balance, that is when disease sets in.
We all carry the element of fire within us. Fire is the element that is responsible for change, transformation, digestion, and heat. When in balance within our body, we digest food properly, our metabolism functions properly, we have strength, energy and stamina throughout our day without feeling winded or fatigued.
When the element of fire is in balance within our minds, we are creative, brave, exhibit the qualities of leadership, we are outgoing, and ready to conquer anything that comes our way.
In Ayurveda, this element is referred to as Pitta dosha. We are all born with it. Some of us are born with more of this element than others. But we can all become pitta imbalanced. If you have a stronger pitta constitution that others, you will be more prone to a pitta imbalance. This can cause a number of symptoms, anger being one of the most common.
One of the easiest ways to bring a pitta vitiation back into balance is by cooling off...literally.
There are plenty of plants that have a natural cooling ability, that when taken internally, will help to cool us off. Some of these include, aloe vera, hibiscus, cucumber, mint, jasmine, coconut, and cilantro. One of my favorite ways to ingest these healing plants is with a cold infusion, or a cold tea.
I am someone with a strong pitta constitution. I know first hand how the effects of a pitta imbalance can create unnecessary stress on myself as well as on those I love. This is why I created a Pitta Balance Box. It contains cooling elements that will help you balance your pitta, reduce frustration, cool and calm your body on both the inside and the outside.
The Pitta Balance Box includes a tea that is designed specifically with the intention of calming a pitta inflammation of the digestion and the mind.
It also has a cooling bath bomb and bath soak that are made with herbs that when absorbed by the skin, will cool off your skin, calming any excess heat that may be permeating off your body. It contains recipes that are specific for pitta dosha, a crystal that when carried will help to balance the vibrations of fire within you, and a couple of my favorite ayurvedic samples.
