Sticking to a schedule

It's almost been a week since our governor began to cancel everything and told everyone to stay home. As a small business owner who spends so much time in the gym, I admit...I panicked. I wasn't afraid of the virus, but I went into full throttle trying to tie up the lose ends of my business and my clients with little warning. I'm not the only one. I know plenty of my friends in the fitness and holistic health industry were going through the same thing. And if you're a parent, this situation became even harder, because now we have to not only think about ourselves and our business, but our kids too.

I know my daughter was in shock and disbelief about this whole thing. We all went from being over scheduled to being at home. It's hard to slam on the brakes when you've been going 80 miles an hour. But here we are. In only the first couple of days I could see that if I didn't keep a positive attitude, my 17 year old was going to fall into a depression.

I knew it was going to be super important to stay busy...not the kind of busy we're used too, but a new kind of busy. I immediately began thinking of books to read, movies to watch, house hold projects to catch up on, recipes to try, etc.

Then I saw this online...

My daughter plays beach volleyball. She adores April Ross. For those of you who don't know, she's an Olympic medalist who plays beach volleyball. We've even seen her in person a few times. So naturally we all follow her on social media. April Ross was one of the first celebrities to isolate herself. Just the other day I saw that she posted this on her IG story.

And it made me remember how important it is right now to find a routine and stick to a schedule. For me, personally, it would be so easy to become a couch potato. But I refuse to let that happen for either me, or my daughter. So I want to say thank you to April Ross for posting this. She is right. We all need to find the motivation to stay calm and relaxed, but also not allow ourselves to fall into stagnation.

I hope this inspires you to create your own schedule. It is very important to keep our bodies strong right now. We have to keep exercising. For all of the gym junkies out there, I know how much of a challenge this is going to be.

Cool thing is that so many trainers, fitness instructors, yoga and meditation teachers are taking their classes and lesson plans online. So there is no shortage of opportunity to keep exercising. Make sure you follow me on fb. I'm reposting all the links my friends are using to teach online.

Also, if your'e interested. I'll be sending out a different workout video every week to those who are subscribed to my email list. So make sure you sign up by clicking on this link...
