Holiday Help...SOS!

I just heard on the news that the average American gains 8 pounds in the month of December.

That's a lot.

And it's completely avoidable.

Do you have a plan to stay on track for the onslaught of unhealthy overindulgence of food this holiday season? If not, here's a few tips to help you get through all of the extra temptations of this festive time of year.

1. Go in with a plan... If you don't know where or how to start, invest in a licensed certified coach or trainer.

2. Write down every holiday party, event, potluck that you are invited to in a calendar. This will help you prepare.

3. Add an extra 10 minutes to your work out routines.

4. Shave a couple hundred calories off your daily routine to prepare for a weekend holiday dinner or party. If you are a latte drinker, or soda drinker, eliminate them...just for the holidays. You can go back to drinking them after the new year.

5. Get support. Communicate your health goals to your family, friends, co-workers and ask them for their support. Ask them not to tempt you.

6. Hydrate...hydrate...hydrate! When your cells are thirsty, you are more likely to reach for sugary and salty foods.

7. Offer to bring a dish or two to the party. This way you can make something clean and healthy and will have something at the party.

8. Don't beat yourself up if you veer off track. Just get back on the following week. It's not a big deal. Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed without worrying about every little calorie that goes in your mouth.

9. Dress up!!! I mean all out dazzled up. When you feel hot, you want to continue to feel hot, and you will be less likely to reach for any food that is going to make you bloated or uncomfortable.

10. Rock the season. You are bold and beautiful at any size. Own your fierceness and enjoy every second of this holiday season!
