Get Creative with Overnight Oats
My favorite thing about overnight oats is all of the options. My Vata nature gets bored easily, and regular oatmeal is soooo boring. With overnight oats, I feel like I can play around with all kinds of recipes and flavors. It is super easy to make, inexpensive, takes less than 5 minutes to put together, and once you put them in the frig, it makes a healthy quick grab snack for the kids.
A few of my favorite recipes are as follows...
1. Raspberry & dark chocolate.
Fill your mason jar halfway with slow cooked rolled oats.
Fill the other half with raspberries and dark chocolate chips.
You can put a tablespoon of vanilla Greek yogurt. Fill the jar
with vanilla flavored almond milk. Give it a shake.
Refrigerate it overnight.
2. Apple Cinnamon
Fill the jar halfway with oats. Add chopped apples and
pecans. Sprinkle cinnamon on top. Cover it with milk.
Shake & refrigerate.
3. Peanut Butter and Jelly.
Fill jar halfway with oats. Add a serving of peanut butter.
Add a teaspoon of strawberry jelly. Top it off with cut up
strawberries. Let it sit covered in the frig overnight and
enjoy it in the morning.
The cool thing about this, is that you can really mix in whatever you have in your pantry. Try playing around with all your favorite fruits, nuts, seeds, nut butters, yogurts and even chocolate. Have fun with it. Food should be an enjoyable experience. Our bodies digest and absorb the food better when we feel good about what we are eating.
As always, Much love & namaste
